The First Amendment
My title: The Basic Rights Amendment
Original Text: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
What It Means: The First Amendment gives citizens the basic rights they deserve, including freedom of speech, press, assembly, and religion. It also gives people the right to petition to make a request to the government. This allowed people to gather peacefully without government interference and to have a voice. Freedom of speech can be taken away from people if they make false statements or claims that cause harm to others.
