Popular Sovereignty
Popular sovereignty is the idea that the power of a government is held by the country's people. The Constitution clearly shows this idea in the words "We the people". These words show that the government is powered by the people and that the people have the authority over the government. The idea of popular sovereignty gives the people the power, so the government can only govern with the people's consent. Popular sovereignty is a very important part of the Constitution, making sure the government is only as powerful as the people let it be.
