The Fourth Amendment
Title: The need four warrants
Original Text: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
What it Means: The British used to make forced searches and would take other peoples property. The fourth amendment protects people from this by giving the right to not be searched without a warrants. Judges only give search warrants if they feel the search might reveal evidence. This prevents "unreasonable searches and seizures". However, in emergencies, authorities can make emergency searches without waiting for a warrant.
