Separation of Powers
The framers of the Constitution wanted the separation of powers. They wanted to separate the power of the government over three different branches. The three branches were the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. By having three branches, all of the government's power would not be kept by one group of people. They also put in place a system of checks and balances to make sure no branch became too powerful. Using this method, the Constitution made sure the power of the government would be separated and limited.
